Is my pup pregnant?

Im not sure if my dog is pregnant. For about a week her ribs are expanding. She has also lost her appatiate. Molly is a 2 1/2 year old dog. She hasnt beein around much dogs in the past month. Molly likes to run like most cockers, but lately I’ve noticed a change in her appatite and her behaver. She is calmer and sleeps a lot more than she usally does. We have something in our house called “ the corner,’ its wre she goes to sleep. She only goes there late at night when she sleepy or when shes scared but now shes been going there a lot more. Molly has been having a lot of diaria. Im not sure if shes sick or is pregnant. My dog is the most imortant thing in my life, but I cant really find any money to take her to a vet. I am saving up though. Here are some basic questions. How could’ve my dog gotten pregnant? We have a fenced yard but my dog is clever and always finds a way out. I dont really care because shes to smart to run under a car and always comes back. If so, what do I do during laber? How long are cockers preganent? How do I know shes in labor? What do I do during her pregnacy? Will any thing besides weight change? If you have the answer to these simpal questions plaese answer.

Thanks 4 the answers! My friend has a pregnant dog and he said that they have diaria when they are pregnant. What happens when a do g goes into”heat”?

Answer #3

she may have a stomach virus that would cause bloating. she could be pregnant tho but waiting to find out could put her at more risk of illness vets offices do have payment plans… heat is your dogs version of menstruation it occurs every 3 to 6 months unless spayed. if your dog happens to just start popping out puppies make sure for the first few hours that all have a chance to nurse its a pretty critical time for a pup.

Answer #4

Call around and see who will make payment arrangements with you, then take her the Vet…give them the money you saved as a down payment. If your dog isn’t spayed and she gets out of your yard, THAT’S HOW she got pregnant. Even if she never got out of the yard, she could still be prenant…Loss of appetite and diarreah indicate to me, that on one of her little trips out of the yard she got into something that has made her sick.

No matter how smart she is…& if she’s really THAT important to you, you’ll escape proof your yard. There’s far more danger for her running loose, than a car (tho, you might be surprised at how many brilliant dogs have been hit).

It is tuff early on to tell if a dog is pregnant, A vet can palpate the dog, do ultra sound but just looks alone won’t really show until she is about 1/2 way so here is some basic answers to your questions. 63 days is how long they are pregnant she had to be in heat to get pregnant and would have had to TIE with a male dog Hopefully a little dog or she will be in trouble during labor Diarria is not a sign of pregnancy her appatie should increase and you should be feeding her a good puppy food, but do the swicth slow by mixing the foods together. She will get bigger Teats will grow and get milk Are you sure she was out of your sight long enough to get pregnant? She may just be sick There is a lot to tell you about whelping a litter so I suggest you pull up a couple of sites and do some reading. Good luck

With an expanding ribcage, fatugue, loss of appetite, diarrhea, etc., she c ould have heart worm disease and, or, parisites. Healthy pregnant dogs do not usually have diarrhea as a sign of pregnancy. Take her to a vet ASAP before you find her dead one morning!

Answer #7

you really need to see a vet. if a dog is not eating and the chest or abdominal area are “expanding” for a week, that could be an indication of several serious conditions which require medical care. if she is pregnant, then you need to start gradually switching her to a good quality puppy food asap and learn what to watch for to ensure a healthy gestation. also, if you don’t have the money to take her to a vet you probably shouldn’t let her have a litter of puppies. puppies are expensive!! most vets accept something called Care Credit, which you can apply for online or over the phone if you don’t have the money. finally, most local humane societies and animal shelters have free or low cost spay/neuter clinics. if she isn’t pregnant, or if she is wait til after the puppies are weaned, have her spayed ASAP!!!
