is it true if you want a job as a midewife in baby care unit. do you have to like finger the people or sumute ??? because thats what I got told xx
you have to insert the finger into the vagina for two reasons (maybe?)
1) to check dilation (as ich said) and 2) maybe to break the waters...
the risk of infection is very high, and gloves are required the whole way through for protection of mother, baby and midwife.
As a midwife, your job is to deliver babies. To check the dilation progress of a woman in labour, you need to insert your fingers into the vagina to measure the cervix - it's not exactly "fingering", but yes, you have to do it.
