Is everything against me?

This year, it seemed as if everything went down the drain. I had good grades before, lots of friends, and was about to talk to this girl I like. This year I had terrible grades, lost many of my friends, and the girl that I like is going out with a guy thats much too old and diffrent from her for it to work (he does not respect her either, but I don’t want to break up the relationship that they have). After working very hard for months, I finally have a respectable grade in each of my classes, but when I tried to get my best friend to help me with the girl that I like, I find out that he likes her too and is downplaying me behind my back with her. All of my friends are always busy when I want to talk to them about anything and most move on before I can get to the point of talking. I’m losing my faith and have been very depressed all of a sudden. I’m not going to give up though, but I just need some advice on what to do, because I know the only way things will be right again is if I can talk to this girl (I’ve loved her for 5 years and I won’t just move on) and get some of my friends back with me. Please help.

get involved in the things your friends are involved in. and be straight up with the girl you like and let her know that she IS the one you want.
