I got mine when I was 19, it didn’t hurt when they pierced it, it hurt a little bit afterwards…

I cleaned it everyday with salt water for about a month and I immediately swam with it…nothing happened to it…

eventually though I got tired of having one and took it out…

It doesn’t really hurt to get the piercing itself, it’s just really sore for a really long time. At least mine was. Navel piercings are one of the slowest healing piercings and are considered surface piercings. It’s very important to clean it properly and give it plenty of time to heal. Mine took like a year until it healed completely and still would get irritated from time to time until about a year or two ago and I’ve had mine for almost eight years. Listen to your piercer’s advice carefully and do what they say and you should be fine.

the piercing is done with a clamp and a needle. ( I use a 16 gauge.) the pain is a slight pinch. the area is somewhat red and raw for the first couple of days. the sweeling subsides after about a week. the proper care includes a warm rag, anti bacterial soap, sea salt, and saline solution. clean with the soap once a day. soak in sea salt once to 3 times a day and follow with a saline solution. apply a warm cloth 3 times daily to speed up healing. stay out of water other than showering for 6 weeks to keep infection away. please go to the piercer that pierced you for your firstr jewlery change to learn how to do it.

I got mine when I was 16. it didnt hurt when they pierced it, but it stung a little but nothing big. Don’t play with it at first I did I couldnt help it and it started bleeding a bit but that was my fault. they say don’t change the piercing for about a month. and they said to make to make the belly ring the last thing you clean when your in the shower. that way you clean out any shampoo or dirty soap water that might have trailed down to your piercing. I still have mine in. and you sometimes dont even notice its there, but also when you first get it pierced, it might bother you to wear tight shirts that cover the piercing,I dont remember if it bothered me, this was 4 years ago.

I got mines done when I was 15, and it went really grotty & infected so I had to take it out, then I done it myself when I was 16 which was totally stupid as I didnt make it thick enough so it fell out, then I got it done profesionally again later that year and have since had no bother with it at all. My advice is, check out the studio first, make sure you like your peircer and feel the place is clean and then go for it. Also clean it with Salt Water as it cleans it better, dont change it for at least a month, try to resist the urge to play with it for the first few day. Hope I helped. (:
