Im confused. I need some advice or opinions

Okay so there was this guy that I think is cute and my friend introduced us tuesday after school.. We talked for abit and hugged afterwards but before leaving I told him that I would talk to him at school because my dad was already waiting for me. Then the next day I would see him looking at me but he wouldnt come up to me to say hi or and e thing. The same thing happened thursday .. I would see em looking at me but still..nothing. Then today my friend told me that she had to talked to him yesterday and had asked him if he thought I was cute and he had said yea then she asked him if he would date me and he said ya.. And like when she told me that I was really happy but .. Now im wondering if he was just saying that to be nice..because he seems me but like he doesnt even come up to me or and e thing. And then he has this girl who he like hooks up with I guess but I guess its just that nothing more. But im soo confused. Does anyone have any advice to give me or just your opinion would help.
