Could smoking and drinking effect the baby already?

So I am 23 just found out, I am pregnant. I am Indian..and its totally against my religion to get pregnant before marriage. Except the guy I got pregnant with I been with him for 3yrs. And my family hates him. But I truely Love him. We’ve had our up’s and downs. a lot..a lot of them! Anyways I don’t know what to do? I work full time I have a good job,but doesn’t pay the best and I determened to go to school. My concerns is; financial thoughts, my parents hating my man and ect. I’m scared but at the same time I want to keep the baby. But the last few weeks I smoked cigs and drank. Could it effect the baby already! Can I get some realy in-put on things please!! ThankS

This is such a hard decision. I am more worried about my “indian” parents. They said I am a disgrace. And if I have this baby they will not doo kids, they can’t show there face any more to the family and the baby born or unborn has been labeled. So my man isn’t perfect at times he has had some psych issues. I love him so much that I am there for him no matter what. And my dad said the baby will be skitsofranic, and nobody will want to date it. They said if I do this…then it’s done with. And they will never accept us. It hurts so bad because I love my parents too, they’ve done so much for me I don’t want to be a shame to the family. This is making me sick and sad… I want to just dissapear.

Okay, yes it could hurt the baby, but about 90 percent of women drink before thye know they are pregnant, and end up with a successful pregnancy.

Thank You, isn’t financial aid for only if you go to school right?

Answer #4

Yes it could affect the baby…make sure you don’t do it anymore.

As for financially?…Check into financial aid where you live, it really will help.

Answer #5

Yes, financial aid is for you going to school.

I’m not entirely sure what you’d like help with? Either you keep it or you dont. That is up to you. You’re an adult and quite capable of making this decision. As for the guy thing, if you’ve had ups and downs, a baby is not going to help. That’s just how it goes. Babies rarely ever positively affect a relationship. So if it boils down to it, can you do this on your own? As for your parents, well you’re pregnant. If you’re going to keep it, I’m pretty sure they’d rather you be married to him than not… So I think you solved that problem…

If you drink and smoke before you even realize you’re pregnant, most likely it will not hurt your baby. I had a few margaritas to drink early in my pregnancy and my ob/gyn told me not to worry. However, you need to stop both of those things now or they WILL affect your baby. Also, you need to find an ob/gyn or a charity clinic who will help educate you about diet, etc. and make sure that you and the baby are healthy and stay that way.

No, pregnant girls/women can get financial aid if they’re pregnant. You can also get help with medical costs. WIC (women, infants & children) also can help. You could get milk, peanut butter, eggs, etc. from WIC and then when the baby is born if you use formula they will pay for a certain number of cans a month…check into it, it really does help.

When I say financial aid I mean help from the county that you live in…foodstamps, WIC, medical assistance, etc.
