Why is the member finder coming up with wrong results?

I did the search for people in peterborough england and it came up with a list of people. except a lot of them weren’t in peterborough england!

There you go…you’re the only one in that city, the others list their city next to them. Unfortunately, we have only about 49K members or so..which means, in many parts of the world, we might only have a single person (or none) in that city or area.
