I hate my mum

My mum is always mean to me. She calls me fat, ugly and a sl*t. She use to hit me and she yells at me all the time. I’ve tried talking to her but she just keeps yelling. My dad is never home and that makes her scream even more. How can I stop her?

Dear fizzpop12, You can’t stop her…do you have a trusted adult like and aunt, uncle, cousin etc. that you can talk to. They may have seen a change in her that they are worried about to and one of them can talk with her. You can’t change your mother but you can change the way you deal with her. When she says mean things tell her that hurts your feelings and you do not wish to speak with her at this moment and leave. The worst thing is to yell or argue back. If this doesn’t change the way she treats you then seek out a counsellor at school. They can address how this will effect your self-esteem and ways that you can keep it strong during this time and give you more ways to deal with ways to deal with it. Sue…good luck
