What I’ve heard was that the logo on the inside, that leather flap, on a fake Chanel bag will say it’s made from France. Most (not all, but most) Chanel bags are made in Paris. Also, look to see if it’s cheap stitching. Chanel also uses high quality material. There should be a serial number on a card in the purse. Besides, if you see it selling cheap, it’s probably not real. Chanel bags usually run around $1000, give or take.

If you mean at a party, don’t try it, as you might guess wrong. If you mean on eBay or similar, odds are if it’s too cheap, it’s fake.

Besides, if you are going to buy something like that & can’t afford to get one, then odds are, the rest of your outfit won’t be the same caliber of brand as the bag, and then it’ll look odd (eg, more like that even if the bag is real, people will guess it’s fake). For me, I only trust reputable retailers locally for fashion merchandise, and only buy online if it’s a less well known brand & more likely to be “real” because there aren’t knock offs of jcrew, etc :).
