How to get poetry pubished

I write poetry and I would like to get a poem published. I entered a contest on poetry.com and they sent me a letter saying I can be in a book . People say they accept any poem just to get you to pay for the book.many say poetry.com is a scam since you have to pay to get your poetry published. I’m not sure but I would like to get atleast something published.my friends tell me im a good writer so I would like to give it a try. Any one know any good sites? Or anyone ever been published that can give me some advice?

Don’t buy into the poetry.com scam!

If you want to get published, put together a collection of poems and submit them to publishing houses. I will warn you, there will be publishing houses that say “thanks but no thanks”. It happens, don’t get disheartened, just keep putting your stuff out there.

You could try submitting it to somewhere like Readers Digest. They aren’t the most glamorous publication, but they do take submissions. Aslo, try checking out things like Deviant Art, or starting your own poetry blog.
