How to be a positive role model and mentor?
If you are a 'good' role model for younger, one typically aspires to and exemplifies (or attempts to according to one's reasonable abilities) to be more ideal and thus show attributes of the ideal and classical merits: courage, temperance, understanding, patience, fun, joy bla bla... as one gets older, a good role model (parent to teen or older friends or lovers etc), tends to often extend this 'positive role model' to some more pragmatism and relativism, often due to one's own experiences in life. It is a broad concept and can be so easily mismanaged and misunderstood due to hubris; the arrogance of believing one's concepts must hold true, especially due to being based in one relative mythos or truth/belief system.
To be a good role model, I would however, recommend to let you know most people and societies share fundamental values , although expressed differently; stick to these.. and I recommend reading philosophy, especially classical philosophy, and nice poetry ;)
Should get you going.
Hello, qtpi3. I think I may have the solution for your problem. A positive role model/mentor is one who stands up for others, even if he or she may not even know them. A good role model is always being a good example and constantly helping others, and encouraging and building them up. A good mentor is someone who can help another through their problems and be a friend when they are in need. All in all, a good positive role model and mentor is in all-in-one good-natured person, who is there for others, who is inspiring to others, and is always optimistic.
