How much does it cost to build a nice custom computer?

my brother in law usually does them somewhere under 1,000 I beleive my sister sayed..

without screen and peripherals - around $400 - 500. talking high medium quality and fast. dont get less than 2 gig of ram. hard drive space is relative. what you need is a good cpu and chipset. I use and like amd personally, beyond my mac which isnt close to as fast as my pc and 4 times more expensive. just do some homework. computers are no longer expensive. to buy them complete is, but not as much as they were in the past.

dont go 4 that buy new one with guarntee & good quality.computers are not very expensive these days want second hand go 2 ebay or gumtree but make sure must be a known brand.

when you buy all the pieces new you do get warranties so thanks 123monty for your bad advice, never buy computers off of ebay or anywhere else they may work for a bit but you have no way of telling how much life is left..

You certainly do. And when you have a problem the support calls goes like this:

Motherboard supplier: ‘We think it’s a problem with your video card.’ Video card supplier: ‘We think it’s a problem with your memory.’ Memory supplier: ‘We think it’s a problem with your power supply.’ Power supply supplier: ‘We think it’s a problem with your motherboard.’

If you’re going to assemble your own, then you are taking the responsibility to diagnose the system and figure out which component caused the problem and you’ll need the ability to prove it.
