How hygenic is the family toothpaste tube?

I’m starting to obsess over this. It suddenly occured to me that if more than one person is using the same tube of toothpaste at least twice a day, aren’t they spreading germs amongst themselves? Is it any wonder that if one person has a cold, everyone else in the family gets it?

Is it insignificant? Is it all in the way the toothbrush wipes itself off that last molecule of new toothpaste that someone else is going to get? Should we all have our own? LOL. Is mine the only family that shares the tube? Do I need to get a life?

Uhm no, a lot of families share. Especially those that share bathrooms. Uhm considering I share cups and glasses with others, I guess I dont think about it much.

Colds are spread through inhaling airborne viruses, so don’t snort the toothpaste and you will be safe from colds. Actually colds can be spread in families, but it is from unguarded sneezes, and touching contaminated objects then rubbing your nose or eye. Most easily spread diseases do not spread well thru ingestion - toothpaste tube to toothbrush to mouth and swallow. The acids in your mouth and stomach are very hostile to most germs.

If you want to get your own toothpaste though, go ahead. Especially if it will give you peace of mind. Plus that way you can get a flavor you like. :)
