how;;;help I dont get this math question!!!?

oky I dont get this problem I know im like stupid so dont b callin me that stuff k :-)

A rectangular pool has a width of 10 feet and a length of 20 feet. the deck that surrounds it is 2 feet wide, what is the area of the deck that surrounds the pool?

and if you can explain what you did and why you did to help me understand it more that would be a big help thanks :-D

Answer #1

its 100

Answer #2

joerigg is correct. since the deck goes all the way around the pool, there is 2 feet extra on each side for a total of 4 feet each side. (10+4)x(20+4)=336-200 for pool=136.

Answer #3

The anserw is 132 square ft. think about it. two sides are going to be 14 ft x 2 ft. and 2 sides will be 20 ft x 2ft so 14x2=28x2=56 20x2=40x2=80 so 56+80=132 square ft.

Answer #4

the reson children and teens are taught stiff like this is so they learn how to problem solve srry about the spelling :/

Answer #5

thats just a really stupid question I mean seriously when are people gonna need that info..

im a builder by trade and never used this rubbish.

Answer #6

Pool is 10X20=200sq ft Deck is 14X24=336 sq ft - 200 sq ft for the pool = 136 sq ft Remember it is 2 feet added to each of 4 sides,

Answer #7

the area of the pool = length x width

                                =20x10
                                =200

area of pool with decking = (20+2)x(10+2)

                                          =12x22
                                          =264

area of decking =264-200

                         =64 feet squared
Answer #8

hold on I dont get this… thats a stupid question cus how can you find ‘what the area of the deck that surrounds the pool is?’ with only knowing its 2 feet wide :S

the area of the pool is 200 with 10x20

the total area size with the deck surround is 12x22=264

I cant tell you the answer to that question without another number to times the deck surround with :S

im crap at maths

Answer #9

thts the sucky part it dosnt come with a pic

Answer #10

lol I like the ‘’im stupid part’’ :L

you have to times them, or if yu have it on paper or something you should try and work it out from a picture that usually comes with it.

Answer #11

shit well I already turned it in sooo everyone can stop ansering :)

Answer #12

so its 64 because the total area is 264 and the pool area is 200 so 264-200= 64!! haha thanks!!!
