How early can you tell if your dog is pregnant?

How early can you tell if your dog is pregnant? and do dogs get morning sickness? Because my dog and a dog I was “doggy sitting” got stuck and it has been about 9 days since and she has been getting sick all morning.

A lot of pet owners don’t know for sure until their pet starts to get fat and her nipples start to get larger. However, since she is throwing up, you should probably take her to the vet anyway just in case.

Answer #2

She is most likely pregnant. You need to take her to the vet, so they can make sure everythings ok. They will confirm if she is or not.

You can’t feel the puppies at 9 days. They are too small. The personality will change and she will either be overly affectionate or somewhat irritable. It depends on the dog. My lab crawls into my lab and hugs me all the time. We always know when she is pregnant because I even wake up in my bed and she has crawled up next to me and is cuddling with me while I sleep. She is normally affectionate but not like this. She is usually ver independent. She usually does not show until the last three weeks. She does gain weight and she eats a lot but if you did not see her mate you would thing she was just running and playing and having fun as usual. We have both the Sire and the Dam so we know when they are pregnant. Plus they come inside with us because they are our family pets as well. The female has champion bloodline and we sell the puppies. I always have a long waiting list. For the most part is someone is willing to purchase a dog they take care of them. I have had to send a couple of dogs to the pound before. But that was because my ex-husband was mean to the dog and it turned on us. Fortunately for us he is now gone and our dogs are loved and well taken care of . They are actually very spoiled. I had never had to send a dog to the pound before. It was heartbreaking. When our Golden Retriever got so sick and we had to put her down I went with her and held her while they put her down. They simply gave her a shot and she went to sleep. She then stopped breathing. I cried but she was very ill. We knew she had cancer but they found several more tumors once we got in there. We had tried to save her but she was 14 years old and not strong enough.

If you are unsure you can go to your vet and they will examine the dog to determine if she is pregnant. If she is just be sure to give her plenty of food. My Lily eats a lot when she is pregnant. She had 9 puppies on the last litter. I was very careful about anyone handling the pups the first week. I also felt she needed a break after the birth so that she could get her strength back. She was very loving with her puppies.
