How does the points for car insurance work?

My dad has been driving in Canada for about 11 years and has had no accidents, speeding tickets, nothing whatsoever. Yesterday, he went the wrong way and the cop gave him a ticket for 115$ and my dad has the money to pay it off. My father is wondering how many points are they going to take away and is the car insurance going to raise?

Ontario does notify the insurance carrier automatically and assesses points.

You didn’t day if it was the wrong way on a one-way or wrong way on a two-way. In any event, here’s a link to the point system in Ontario:
