How do you hide a tongue piercing?

I got my tongue pierced about 2 months ago, but took it out after 6 days because my parents didn’t approve.

Now I’m studying abroad at a relative’s, and I want my tongue pierced again w/out my aunt and uncle noticing (or else my parents will eventually find out).

HOW??? All the lisping, and not being able to eat well. Also, the last time I got my tongue done didn’t hurt at all, but as the swelling took process it was totally painfull. What can be done about that? I’m an asian girl studying in Latin America. HELP!

Answer #2

umm well you could get it pierced with a skin/tongue coloured bar thing. or a clear one.

and try not to talk much until it hurts less. and you could just eat stuff like soup. and have smoothies to fill you up for a while.

Answer #3

At first when you get your piercing you gotta wear the metal barbell right? There is no way you can change that barbell due to its swelling..So for the first week if you want to hide your piercing is quite difficult.

Maybe you can try not to talk to anyone. As in..You wake up only when they are out..You go home only when they’re asleep.

After swelling then change to a flat-top barbell.Hope this will help.Good luck!

Answer #4

tongue piercings are dangerousss and I think you should wait and not get one or not talk at all

YO. I’M 16 && GOT MINE DONE LAST SUMMER. I WENT BY MYSELF BECAUSE I LOOK OLDER THAN I AM. I HAD ONE HELL OF A LISP FOR A WEEK BECAUSE OF THE SWELLING, THEN WHEN THE SWELLING WENT DOWN, I STILL HAD A LITTLE LISP BECAUSE THE BAR WAS SO HUGE. FOR SOME REASON KIDS NOTICE IT MORE THAN ADULTS, MY LITTLE SISTER SAW IT && I TOLD HER IT WAS A BEAD. IT TOOK MY MOTHER THREE MONTHS TO SEE IT, && THAT WAS ONLY BECAUSE I WAS STANDING ABOVE HER. I HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND MY DAD NEVER KNEW. A GUY I WAS DATINGDIDNT LIKE IT, SO HE MADE ME TAKE IT OUT. I HAD IT OUT FOR TWO MONTHS && WE SPLIT UP.. I JUST GOT IT DONE LAST WEEK && NO ONE’S NOTICED && I TALK ALL THE TIME. YOU JUST HAVE TO LEARN NOT TO OPEN YOUR MOUTH SO FAR.. WITH MY DAD I USUALLY COVERED MY MOUTH WITH MY HAND OR PHONE… && WHEN EATING WITH PARENTS MAKE SURE NO ONES LOOKING AT YOU BEFORE YOU TAKE A BITE.

YO AFTER I GOT MINE DONE I WAS EATING A HAMBURGER, ITS NOT ALL THAT SERIOUS. YOU DONT NEED TO EAT SOUP OR ICE CREAM. YOU CAN BUY POPSCICLES TO HELP WITH THE SWELLING. BUT ITS ALL GOOD.

THE DAY I GOT IT DONE THIS LAST TIME I GOT INTO A WRECK. SO THE DAY AFTER I HAD TO GET X-RAYS.. TONGUE RINGS DO SHOW UP. =] SO BE CAREFUL WITH THAT.

I GO TO A CATHOLIC SCHOOL- SO NO PIERCINGS ARE ALLOWED.. I FIND THE EASIEST WAY TO HIDE THEM IS A CLEAR BAR && BLACK BALLS. CLEAR ARE OKAY, BUT SINCE THE BACK OF YOUR MOUGHT IS DARK, BLACK IS EASIER TO HIDE.

you cannot hide a tongue piercing simple as that.. yeh you cud keep your mouth closed but then you like stupid.. although I agree with some people here. im 19 and I’ve wanted my tounge done since I was 14 but I’ve waited as I want my mum to be ok with it. Im not a good 2 shoes. I got my tattoo on my 18th ( mum was thrilled about it) but the tounge is different as it can affect you getting a job ( although I think its shallow as I only want a small dinky one.) As for Sweetangel.. whos going to ask a 15 year old for advice?? be serious with this :) If its something you really want then you would wait for it and make sure its the right time.

Answer #9

wow a tongue retainer I never heard of that I gotta check this out

Answer #10

Simply learn to talk without opening your mouth so far. It’s really not that hard once you get the hang of it. =] But eventually they will find out. Sorry to break it to you. Don’t you’re parents take you to the dentist?

Answer #11

I got my tounge pierced about a month ago and my mom still hasnt noticed, just dont face her while you are talkin look down like your fixing your shirt and the lisp and swelling will go down in a bout a week. my problem is playin with it when its in my mouth just dont do it around your parents and they shouldnt notice. good luck, and make sure you take good care of it when you have it infection is a big risk, and please take my advice and get it done by a pro my friend did mine and dont get me wrong it looks really good but its super dangerous the wrong angle and you could have to go to the hospital.

best of luck:)

Answer #14

I’m 15 and my parents are REALLY strict, I got my tongue pierced 2 weeks ago and they still haven’t notice. If you ask your piercer for a short barbell it will help with the lisp. I didn’t talk funny at all. If you Don’t want them to see it then you don’t open your mouth as wide. Um now the eating process you want to eat crushed up ramen noodles, soups, NO ICE CREAM…it makes your tongue swell like crazy!!!. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask me.

Answer #15

I want to get my tongue pierced , um . I don’t know im thinking about it my friend got it you cant really tell , unless she laughs or anything of that nature , but im thinking abt getting it pretty soon my parents are going out of town this weekend so I think that it is the perfect opportunity to get it this week and then after that ill be at school so I wont see them for a couple of hours and I will get a clear ball so hopefully they really wont be able to see it.

Answer #16

I want to get my tongue pierced. I have both ears pierced, and my dad really didnt like that. My parents are divorced so my dad got mad at my mom, my mom isnt a big fan of piercings but I did it myself the first time and she looked it up on the internet so used that against her. so back to the tongue piercing subject I dont think my mom will take me to get it done so im planning on finding a place that would give one to me since im under 18. but first I might try to convince my mom. I would use a clear barbell to make it look like nothing. I also want snake bites (two lip piercings) but I think the would stick out when you talk but I will ask a piecer that but im not sure if my idea to hide those would work. also at most of the piercing places near me charge about $45-$50 dollars so im not sure what to do. ^^ ** :)(:

Answer #17

How to hide it? Take it out. done.

Answer #18

Ok. nobody gave a good answer. im sure what I say now, will help you get through your want. im 16 and I got my tongue pierced a week ago without my parents knowing :) I know if I ask them for one it will be a flat out no. ok I just want to clarify this.

  1. you cant get a shorter barbel when you first get it pierced. They HAVE to give you a long barbell. this is because the longer barbells give room for swelling. (your tongue will swell) mine didnt swell that much but everyone is different) but dont fret! you cant even tell that you have it pierced. this is all you have to do.

  2. when your parents are lurking around make sure you remove the bottom ball of (under the tongue) and wear it with one ball. I am doing it at the moment and I swear you cant even tell you got it pierced.

  3. the first day. eating is a problem especially when you are wearing it with one ball. be very careful not to swallow the barbell. chew your food slightly to the side and each time you swallow push your tongue to the roof of your mouth so the barbell doesnt come out. :)

  4. when you sleep it is critical to put the 2 balls on. This is because when your sleeping it can come out and go down your windpipe and that will lead to a medical procedure. MAKE sure you tighten the balls before you sleep.

  5. when you wake up take the bottom ball of and so on.

:) I hope that helped and best of luck :) xx

Answer #19

Im only 14 and me and my friend are going to get this done next year,

My main plan is to try to start to open my mouth less when I talk (which I am going to do from now just to practice so theres less chance of slip ups at the time) and the dentist thing.. just get it done a while before the next dentist appointment then take it out for the time your in there and try not to draw attention to your tongue while in the chair also im just going to say to my parents that I think im old enough for them to wait outside the dentist untill im finished, that way I can explain the situation to the dentist if he does notice the hole in my tongue or lie that its just a small cut I got a few days before

Oh and also a good idea is to get a clear or pinkish colored bar.. this wont be much good for anyone who looks closely but will help people looking from a distance

Good Luck

Answer #20

Obviously your parents don’t approve for a reason. They aren’t just going to say “No” to something because they feel like it. Why would you disrespect your parents and go against their rules? If you want to make your own choices you should wait till your a bit older, and more mature, so you make the right ones. For now you should listen to your parents.

Answer #21

There really isn’t that much you can do other than trying to physically keep your tongue in your mouth and not talk. Maybe wait until you are of an age that your parents will approve of it. Sorry :)

Answer #22

just go to your room and sleep a lot and try to get it a sunday in the afternoon bc have school the next day so they wount see you that much

Answer #23

Wear smaller, plastic, light colored rings (pink, clear, ext.). If you are really worried about someone seeing it wear a clear retainer. They are pretty hard to notice. Try to not yawn, yell, laugh, or open your mouth wide, to keep from people seeing it. You can chew gum, which makes it less noticeable and if they see something in your mouth they’d likely think its your gum. Suck on ice to keep the swelling down when you first get it. Hope this helped:) this is from personal experience:)
