How do you consiter yourself open minded?

There are so much controversy over everything, but I think its important to consiter different opinions and be open mided to new ideas, what do you think?

Answer #1

I think evolution and creation go hand in hand.

Not according to eternallymisinformed here. She believes the genesis story word for word, that we were all descended from adam and eve. She actually denies all the evidence that proves evolution has and is occuring. She comes up with these crackpot creationists who pretend to be men of science, when all they are is hacks with no scientific credentials at all. And then she blames the fact that they don’t have credentials on a conspiracy in the scientific community that wants to destroy god.

The bible says that for God a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day. It has nothing to do with the days of creation. That only means that God dwells outside of time. The verse says “For God one day…” That describes an attribute. The day in Genesis is specifically a single day as it clearly says “evening passed and morning came”.

Answer #3

I think evolution and creation go hand in hand. The bible says “One day is like a thounsand years and a thousand years is like one day in Heaven.” What do you think?

Answer #4

I would also like to add that open mind is keeping the will aside while analyzing anything. Not pre-assuming or pre-supposing anything before study. Keeping what you want to believe aside when analyzing.

This is coming from someone who thinks that evolution is not real or proven.

Answer #5

I agree with phrannie. I would also like to add that open mind is keeping the will aside while analyzing anything. Not pre-assuming or pre-supposing anything before study. Keeping what you want to believe aside when analyzing.

Answer #6

A lack of controversy would be evidence of a society of closed minds.

Answer #7

it has been my experience that oftentimes the people who are crying out for open mindedness from others are those that are seeking to control what others are thinking and doing because their own personal beliefs are not being considered and disappearing from society.

to me open minded is freedom to choose what to believe without being SOLICITED or COERCED into believing something by someone else.

soliciting beliefs and coercing people to believe as you do falls under the category of BRAINWASHING and PEER PRESSURE which is not freedom and relies upon the CLOSED minded to force their opinions on the rest of the world.

Answer #8

Being “open minded” is simply being willing to hear another side…being willing to accept that there are other points of view…but has nothing to do with changing minds.

Answer #9

Lol. people cant even agree on what open minded is. I suppose I consider myself open minded because I live and let live. As long as someone’s beliefs are not interfering with my life, I really do not care what they believe.

Answer #10

to me open minded is freedom to choose what to believe without being SOLICITED or COERCED into believing something by someone else.

How ridiculous. You think not listnening to other opinions and points of view is being openminded?

What opinions or beliefs have been COERCED on you or anyone? Are you talking about hhen the bush admin coerced people into believing Iraq was a threat? Or when they coerced people into believeing it was a good thing that we violated american’s constitutional rights with warrantless spying? Or when they coerced people into believing that the outing of a CIA agent was no big deal?

Please…

Answer #11

Belief or disbelief isn’t a CHOICE, per se… its a result of how your mind interprets the information pertaining to the subject matter.

Answer #12

Everybody should be open minded. No one knows everything and sometimes what we think we know, we don’t.

With that said, it does take a good bit of effort to change one’s beliefs and incremental change is more readily accepted than drastic change.

Answer #13

Being open minded is having your own beliefs, oppinions, and practices, and are also willing to discuss them with people without coercion and are also willing to listen to them for educational purpose - strictly non-judgemental. You should also be willing to try new things, or tell someone that you aren’t comfortable with it, but that is you, not them.

I consider myself extremely open minded.
