How do turtles get there color?

I have to do a report on turtles and I really want to know how turtles get there color, cause some are brown and some are green and some have a yellowish color???

Turtles are the color they are due to evolution. Let’s say somewhere in the very distant past, a turtle was born(hatched) with a purple shell. Well, this purple shelled turtle wouldn’t have lived long enough to mate and pass on it’s unique coloring because it would have been easily noticed and killed by a predator. The brown, green yellowish colored turtles survived and produced many same colored offspring because in nature, when something works, it lasts. Turtles are usually shades of mud and/or murky water because that’s where they live and they need to be able to blend in with their surroundings to hide from predators.
