How do they relocate th' bone?

Ok my bro broke his wrist while skateboarding( in spite it hurted he stilled stood up home considering he could barely could walk) and they relocated his bone. Anyways mah question is how do they do it? Do they open ye skin,or just move it by rubbing(haha last one sounds stupid)? Ty so much for any help
