How do I tell a guy with bad self esteem he stinks?

There is this guy I know who has really low self esteem, he has like no friends, and no one really likes him.. He is sorta a loner. We try to be nice, but it’s hard to even go near him he smells so bad! How can I tell him without making his self esteem even worse than it already is?

sadly this is a vicious cycle. he has low self esteem so he doesn’t take care of himself, figuring no one cares why should he. this will make him smell bad. then he sees that people walk away from him and avoid him. he wont realise that its not him they are avoiding, it’s the smell. go over and talk to him, make him feel better about himself (a trick to dealing with bad smells is tictacs have several in your mouth and exhale through your nose) if you get to know him (in a well vented area) you can usualy help him out. just remember those with low self esteem after a while become very mistrusting of just about everyone. so it may take some time but you can make a huge difference in his life. quite possibly the most important one in his life.

ok well the best thing to do is just be honest and nice about it. Just say hey I don’t want to hurt your feelings and you are a really nice guy, but can you please wear cologne?

Best to be open about it, though nice. Worst thing you can do to such people is talk behind their back about it and never let them know what it is.

you can be honest, but if he has low self esteem its not going to matter how nice you are. my advice: buy some suave 3 in 1 body wash/shampoo, a nice cologne, and a few other things like a cheap shirt ,maybe even a razor and shave cream. wrap all these items with note, or a card. say these are a favorite of your boyfriend/ bestfriend/ cousin or whatever. he gets a hint, without being embarassed.
