How do I tame my hamster?

I talk to my hamster and let her know that im there, I just got her 3 days ago, so that might be why but just like naomibabe’s problem she runs around and goes on her wheel because she doesnt want to be held, but I want her to know my scent and I cant get her to eat treats off my hand because shes to scared !!! help me !! if you have any answers email me at Shasha8227@aim.com because I probably wont find this page again… lol

Hamsters need constant stimulation or they will become bored and chew on things…including the bars of their cage. I’ve owned Syrian hamsters for most of my life (most recently just a couple years ago in college). It’s good to get them honey/nut sticks or wooden blocks to chew on. They like to sharpen their teeth and this can become an obsessive behavior if they are bored. What is the cage setup like? Do you add/remove things everyday to keep him entertained?

Lol you can’t really tame a hamster. I’ve had a Chinese Dwarf too. Mine was very friendly and loving. You just have to either give her treats so she’ll have something to chew on or get gloves :)

She HAS got Honeysticks and she does chew on them. She also has wooden toys to chew on. But she just doesn’t like me or my mom seeing her. Its like she doesn’t like girls but she likes boys. :( I see her almost everyday and she gets a lot of attention. Maybe she wasn’t handeled very well in the pet store??
