How do I save Adobe Illustrator projects onto a CD?

I need to put a poster I made on Adobe Illustrator onto a CD. I have a mac and it is very confusing. Please Help!

Save them anywhere on your hard drive you would like preferably my documents. Then burn the file to a disk.

id have thought it would just be a simple save to hdd and burn to disk

can you just save the poster on your hard drive?
