How do I get my dog to poop somewhere other than the rock garden?
My golden retriever puppy has taken up pooping in the rock garden where it’s hard to clean up. How do I get him to poop in the yard?
I started walking my dog on a leash and directing her in the direction of the area I wanted her to go.. the you give the dog a treat when its done
Set a sprinkler on a garden hose in the area, turn it on when he gets over there. Then send him to the place you want him to go, when he is done then give him a treat.
watch him/her and if he/her does then tell him/her of and take him/her to do it where you want and if he/her does do it where you want then tell him/her that she/hes a good dog and praise him/her if he/she does it where you want a keep telling him/her off if he/her does it on the stone place. thats what I do! xx.
Move some of that poop to the yard where you want him to go…(one pile will be sufficient)…then “guide” him there, by putting him on a leash or long line…when he goes…praise praise praise. You have to go with him for a while till he knows what you’re asking of him…
The sprinkler is a pretty idea…even a Golden, a water lover, probably doesn’t want to poop where the hose is running… :)
