We haven't been using them, so wouldn't he find it strange if I asked to use condoms now? How do I approach him?
You just have to be honest with him about it and let him know that while you guys haven't used them yet, that you'd prefer it.
As said, you can go with either condom - male or female. Female condoms are typically more expensive than male condoms, so that would be one thing to consider. Talk about it, though, and see which option you guys can settle on.
If he won't settle on either, don't have sex with him.
what is your preferred birth control? omg tell him to use them NOW. if not dump his butt. getting pregnant with a guy who wont respect you enough to wrap it up IS NOT WORTH IT!
Well just talk to him about it...and if he doesn't or won't use one then you use one they do make a female condom now!...so we can be the responsable ones! if they won't.
