How can someone with a felony charge get a nursing license?

I know someone who has a 12 year old class C felony charge. What happened was, he was drunk and someone came after him.He didn’t start the fight, but he took it too far in defending himself. He has been in a recovery program and he would like to get his LPN (Nursing license). Is it possible for him to do this in Virginia?

Answer #1

The thing is, he’s in recovery, and he actually doesn’t lose his temper often.

Answer #2

Nursing is a licensed practice, more than likely a felony will prevent someone from a state licensed profession. People with a history of losing their temper to excess or drug use are not good behavior patterns for a nurse since they have to deal with patients and drugs all day. Check the laws in Virginia for LPN licensing or call your local hospital for information.

Answer #3

maybe try to get files expunged—12 years islong enough ago to prove that you can still be an asset to the healthcare field…good luck,,candie
