how can I strip the black out of my hair without going hairdressers?

I have black hair but want to go light brown which is nearer my natural colour!! I dont want to go hairdressers as I cant afford it but I have bleach at home so I know it will dry my hair out but would it work to bleach it then put a light brown on ?

Answer #3

okkk . so I just dyed the bottom of my hair blonde bleached it twice & it turned a golden color … the same thing might happen to you im fine with it since it just the underneath of my hair but you need a toner , or what you need to do is bleach you hair to a orange . golden tone & then buy the box color you want A SHADE lighter than what you want & youll be good.

Absolutely DO NOT DO IT!!!

I totally destroyed my hair this year. And my hair was AMAZING! Seriously! I had a rockin cut, black color, very healthy because I was getting it cut every 6-8 weeks. I have a friend who is a pretty big time musician who is used to spending 300-400 dollars getting his hair cut at The Palms in Vegas and he ADORED my hair!!!

Then I decided to go from black to blonde.

It did NOT work. It looked awful and now..it wont hold ANY color!! Its dry and brittle, breaks easily, and wont grow. I had to take it back to black and it wont even hold that! After about 2 weeks it starts to lose the color and it actually looks like I have gray hair!!!

I had to get it all chopped off before Christmas and I will have to do it again at least once more in a few weeks to get all the damage out. I had really short hair before but was wanting to grow it long and get a different style. I wish to God I had never messed with it.

And the reason I did…for a guy! STUPID!!!

Let it grow out naturally. It will take time but its the BEST way to go.
