How can I get static out of my hair?

I love my hair, but sometimes when I wake up it is frizzy and when I try to brush it, OMG IT GOES EVERYWHERE! I sleep on flannel sheets and just a regular cotton pillow case, but it is just recently that my hair has been going nuts. I am also on the swim team at my high school so I have to take a bath everyday. So my question is, are there any “homemade remedies” for static hair? If there aren’t I will just go to Wal*Mart and buy some of the static-be-gone-stuff.
