How can I check my desktop monitor to see if is going out? The monitor quits working and freezes up and goes blank sometimes and sometimes it will not even come on when I turn my computer on.

I don’t think you can check your monitor in advance to it shutting down. It could be doing this because the display drive is overheating. Make sure you dont have your tower on a carpet. If you do you should put it on plastic or wood so it isnt touching the carpet. You should also make sure the cooling fans aren’t blocked.

a monitor will just go without warning…

a powerful virus can cause the symptoms your describing by turning your monitor on and off as it pleases… do a scan to make sure

it could also be your graphics card or your whole system over heating that could also be causing it..

but at a guess without actually sittting infront of the monitor id say that theres a 50% chance it could be neally at the end of its life..

is it a CRT (portable telly type) or a LCD?
