How can I bond with all my horses?

I have 8 horses all stabled and I don’t seem to have time to spend time alone on a hack or just time with them how can I make sure I keep my trust with all my horses

^^ horses are friends. otherwise they wouldnt allow us 2 groom them, or be happy with us around them. every animal is wild at heart. the best thing 2 do is talk with them, and work with them. the join up excersise usually does the trick when you want 2 bond wit your horse. to show them your part of the herd, stay with maybe all of them in the pasture, spend some time sitting out there with all of them. and spend some time one on one with them. find the most dominant horse and him/her as an example. if you bring down the dominant horse, the others will see you as the leader. I’ve seen a lot of people try to act 2 dominant with their horses and it usualy equals a bad relationship. dont be afraid to show them that your dominant, try to keep your “herd” undercontrol like a lead mare would do. but think like a horse, dont do somthing to them that you wouldnt want done 2 (bsides riding lol)

Horses arn’t like friends, they don’t see you like that. You should never baby them ever. they arn’t like dogs or cats, they are wild animals at heart. You just need to groom each one every day for at least 10 minutes, and do lungeing exercises to let them know that you are the alpha mare I nthe herd.

Answer #3

okay know this might sound crzy but you going to have to talk with them, I will tell you know it works, because animals are al most like people, if you talk they will listen and the more you do that , the more they start to under stand you! Just when you have time, try it!

Answer #6

Horses are a herd animal…they are always on the lookout for a “leader”…work your majic on the dominant horse first…and move on down the social ladder…giving them all some special attention…

You’ll have ground trust at least, just as tazkat talked about, by walking amound them, and not letting the “lead horse” dominate you or your time with them as a herd.

Getting that gut level trust takes one on one…individually in the round pen, or if they are all broke, riding one at a time…again, one on one.

I made a schedule for my horses ginger gets sunday, Katt gets monday, willy gets Tuseday, arlo gets wensday, monty gets thursday, tigger friday and, hazy gets saturday. you have 8 so I would choose the 2 horses that don’t need to much time and put them on the same day.

(I am homeschooled so I have a lot of time on my hands it may not work the same for you)
