How can I convince my parents to let me have Myspace?

I really, really want a myspace but my parents both think it’s to dangerous for me to go on,got any advice?

Answer #1

Tell them you wont put your real last name and you wont put any real information about you and you wont add anyone you dont know and you wont talk to anyone you dont know and you will let them have your password so they can check it whenever they want. And tell them you will set your page to private so only you and your friends can veiw it. I did this and now I have one. And eventually, they will start to trust you more and ease up some on their invasion, lol.Just try it and it will work, hopefully!!!

Answer #2

Tell them that myspace isn’t dangerous unless YOU make it dangerous and tell them if they wanna monitor your page then they can make one for themselves and look at it every so often.

Answer #3

They have now made it to where you have to add the people to your myspace so its not dangerous as long as you add people you know

Answer #4

Show them there are privacy settings like must enter a last name set it to private and that my help them decide its ok but more inlikely they wont go for it if they feel its unsafe then you will have to wait!

It sounds like you have already asked your parents for a myspace and they have told you no, that it’s too dagerous.

My ten year old son has asked me. I told him no, absolutely not, NO WAY. Way too dangerous, way too much drama with that site. When he is 16, I will allow him to get one, but on the condition I know the password and I will check it every single day.

So if you really want one, maybe offer to your parents that they control your password and they can check it as much as they want.

Good job to your parents for trying to protect you. I cringe when I see what some teens do with their myspace.

Answer #11

First to Preah, you are very wrong about myspace being dangerous, yes there are dangers and do you know why? because of stupidity and 13 year old girls who pose in bikinis and add 20 year old guys as their friends because they like attention.

Create the myspace with you parents. Give them the log in and set your myspace to private and require users to either know your last name or email to add you and olny add your friends. Let your parents have access so they can check on those types of things. After a period of time if they let you do this and you build up their trust, they will check it less and less,

Answer #12

16, and you have to control everything he says and does? I’m 16, and one time my parents went on my email and read my mail. I totally flipped out on them. I’m a good kid, and I wasn’t doing anything bad, it was just the fact that they didn’t even trust me, as a young adult, to be responsible. If my parents knew my myspace password, and like checked everything every day, that is such an invasion of privacy. And like i said before, there are options to make myspace safe. Make a fake one and check it out. Don’t add any information or pictures, just create one with an email and password, and then look at the different settings. It’s easy to do, and proves to your parents that it’s safe, without them having to monitor you 24/7.

Answer #15

When you make a myspace, you have the options to set it to private, [ Under ‘Account Settings’ ] so anyone who wants to see ur myspace has to be one of ur accepted friends. You also have the option to set it so that people cant add you as a friend on myspace unless they know your last name or email address. and you can make ur pictures private too, so only you or only ur friends can view them. =] Good luckk.

Answer #16

show them that your responsible (and probably show them the site)
