whars a good cheep horse I can by?
look, horses dont come cheap at the verey least, a few hundred dollars but expect to pay a few thousand it would also be cruel to keep one if you dont have the right living arrangements for it horses need a big place to live at the very least an acre of land to run around on and eat grass youll probably also need to buy it hay, shoes, and numerouse other things you will also need a stable for it, so it has a dark place to sleep and stay in if the stable is covered in hay underneath this is also good remember, a horse is a huge resposibility its not like keeping a cat or dog you need a lot of room, a lot of land and a lot of heart to be willing to take care of it this is something you also need to talk to your parents about
You can get them cheap (or free) here in Montana...hay cost so much this year, that people are litterally giving them away. Once you have one, tho...nothing is "cheap"...Vets, feed, tack...everything is very expensive. Hay cost me $500 a horse this winter...grain is $80.00 a month...you have to have a tank heater to keep water thawed for them to drink out of a trough...heater $50...trough $100 to $125...see? They aren't cheap to keep.
p
the cost of horses has really got done due to the economy, you can get one VERY cheap right now,(I know a couple people who cant even give theirs away) but thats because the cost to keep one and feed it and take care of one is the issue. Its VERY expensive and not just for that, but vet bills for a large animal is extremely high too...(even horses need vet care)
Yes as Puglover says horse prices are down and this is a good time of year to look for horse that people do not want to feed all winter. As Pug says do consider the cost of the feed and your horse.
Of course there is the old adage, you get what you pay for.
