First sweety–emo is a style, just like goth and scene, etc. You are a recovering “cutter”, dressing and wearing your hair a certain way does not mean you cut yourself. you do this because you have pain and that is your way of letting some of that pain out. Believe me, I wasn’t being sarcastic or trying to be a bi* I just don’t like labels like that. My daughter is all into scene and a lot of people have given her grief and calling her emo and cutter, making that same assumption that a lot of others do as well. That said, now… I know it might sound weird but have you tried a rubber band around your wrist. People use this for a wide variety of things. Whenever you start to have those thoughts or feelings, snap the rubber band. It is supposed to be a diversion for your thoughts. I have heard numerous people state that helped with many different situations–from quiting smoking to biting their nails. You might want to consider this alternative. Also, another idea would be to find something that is easy to pick up and begin where you left off –and use this as “busy work” for your hands. Embroidery, crossword puzzles, anything that when you have those thoughts you pick this up and start to work on it. It keeps your hands busy and makes your mind think of something else.
Hope this has helped some. Good luck to u. Its a long battle, but you can conquer it. (=

ye you should try and find other things to do to keep your mind off it, find a hobby, like I do skiing and that keeps my mind busy and I take my aggression out on it. So just take up a new hobby that you can do instead of cuting yourself

well it is great that you have stoped cutting and it must be hard to not be able to talk to some one but me and my friends talk about every thing and if you need a friend to talk to I would not mind listenin because I know at times every one needs some one to talk to..

Answer #4

Try Listening To music when You get The urge, Or like me, Write more poems. Thats what I do And I used To cut. You dont Need Help, It all Starts Wiff you. =]]

Answer #5

You’re therapist wont tell if you tell them not to. They don’t have that right. They will only tell if they think youre going to hurt yourself badly or hurt someone else. I know because I also go to one =] (If youre unsure ask you therapist about it and see)

Its recovering cutter btw ;) Emo is a music trend for the 80’s xDxD

Also when you feel like cutting hang out with friends, or do someone thing you LOVE. Write poetry run watch tv ect

Snap a rubber band on your wrist.

It helped me quit cutting =]

Answer #9

RUBBER BANDS WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE! keep a couple rubber bands (the office kind not the hair kind, people always get that mixed up) in your school bag and 2 or three on your cutting wrist. when you get the urge just snap! the rubber bands, not your mental state.BTW! I believe the correct term is emotional cutter. im a recovering cutter too. (almost 6 months!!!) and it was sooo hard for me. I went through a lot of rubber bands. :P BTWA! find something your really looking forward to or someone who really looks up to you and when you get the urge just think, “hey, what would happen to this if I accidentally go to far?” its gets me through the day. :) happy life!
