This is love that cannot – under ANY circumstances – be acted upon, which unfortunately is some of the worst kind of love there is (no one ever said all love was a good thing, right?) Even if she dropped to your knees in front of you and professed her undying devotion, you would need to understand – REALLY understand – that this love is unhealthy and will only lead to pain for you, her, and the rest of your family.

I see that you’ve asked this question before on this site and gotten many of the same responses that I’m giving you now, which leads me to wonder what you are really looking for in asking. Are you looking for validation for a decision you’ve already made? Are you just looking for attention because of your unusual situation? Is it even a real problem?

Let’s assume that it IS a real problem and that you already know that you cannot actually end up in a relationship with your cousin. You’ve already taken the first steps in getting over her – moving away, limiting contact, et cetera – but you need to take it one step further. Until you gain enough maturity to channel your affections in a more appropriate direction (and this will happen with time and exposure to more women), you need to avoid this girl like she has an infectious skin condition. If she visits your home, find somewhere else to be. If she calls, don’t answer. With time, the memory of this feeling will begin to fade, you’ll be able to have these feelings for other people, and in time, looking back, you will see this period of your life as a time of a very confused crush.
