what would happen if you pulled out your feeding tube?

Lets just say you had a feeding tube. It was one of the one’s that go in through your stomach. Is it possible to pull it out? And if you did, would it cause damage?

Thank you.

Well, supposing you could pull it out, it would be pretty uncomfortable for you. If you are on an IV drip for fluids, then you’d survive for 3 - 6 weeks, slowly starving to death in agony, depending on your body type. Without an iv drip, you’d last maybe about 3 days as you can’t survive an extended period without water.

There’s a particular way to pull out tubes. If a person doesnt know how to remove them, yes, odds are they would do damage and then the doctors will just have to go back in and fix the damage. And then put restraints on the person (depending on the situation). Which wouldnt exactly be pleasant. My advice to this theoretical person, I understand it is scary, I do understand the anxiety that seems completely unbearable at this point. But there’s a good reason for a feeding tube, or it wouldn’t be there. Here’s my question. Theoretically speaking of course, (because one knows starving to death is not something likely to scare one who is starving anyways), if one wants a life, which includes kids, why would one not try to get better.

Charlie,

I have seen many of your posts, and looked at your photographs. You are a beautiful young woman with the most important part of your life ahead of you. It is not for me to tell you you should eat more and put on some weight (even though that is what I really believe).

But I am absolutely certain that all the people who love you are desperately worried about your future health.

Please take the advice of all these well meaning experts who are trying to make you do something you obviously do not feel comfortable with.

Too many girls with symptoms and behaviour patterns identical to yours have already ruined their lives and lived to regret it (or worse). For God’s sake (whoever “he” may be) don’t let yourself be just another number on a page full of sad statistics in a medical reference text.

– My very best wishes - for a long, happy, and healthy future with your partner and children. - Majikthise.

Yes, it would cause damage, the tube is put in a special way in the stomach to send food straight trough it. Unless this pearson knows how to do such thing then he/she cannot remove it, it has to be done by a doctor. My brother has one, and he does not exacly understand why that is there so he pulled it once and it started bleedin that second he pulled it, yeah, going to the hospital and getting that fixed was a perty big deal.
