Can a HAM radio ever be portable?

Answer #1

My first Amateur Radio transceiver was a little hand-held unit that I used to carry around with me: it operated upon 2 metres (144 - 148MHz). As far as I can remember, when we were portable we had to use a call-sign something like VK#*/P. Over the years, I’ve worked many other Amateurs who were operating “portable”, away from their QTH’s.
