What would be a good problem for a bottle rocket science project?

me and my friend are doing a bottle rocket for our science project. how should we state what our project is in a clear and specific question?

ps: make question 8th grade appropiate

You could do the traditional air pressure rocket project. Here’s an idea of how to make one:

  1. Open a 2 liter bottle of soda and empty it out. Pour the soda into a pitcher for later use, if desired.

  2. Use a funnel to pour water into the bottom of the soda bottle. It should be about 1/4 full with water.

  3. Place the cork through the needle of the air pump and make sure the needle is sticking out a little.

  4. Squeeze the cork into the top of the soda bottle.

  5. Add decorations to the bottom half of the soda bottle for fun. You can use construction paper and tape to make the soda bottle look like a rocket with engines.

  6. Go to an area with open space. This must be somewhere outside because the rocket will fly pretty far and it is not safe inside of a house.

  7. Prop the rocket onto a small board and begin pumping with the air pump. Have everyone stand back.

  8. Watch the soda bottle rocket take off after you have pumped enough air into it.

Oh sorry I posted this before you added the extra information…

Answer #3

Could you give some more information? Are you doing an air pressure rocket project? What is your project?

Answer #4

yeah we’re making a air pressurized bottle rocket

Answer #5

Here are two things you test for. You can then form a hypothesis and try to prove it.

Guessed rocket altitude compared to real reached altitude. How well can you predict the maximum altitude of a rocket and what sort of evidence helps to shape your prediction?

Or:

Placement and design of the rocket’s fin compared to the stability of the rocket. Does changing the size of the rocket’s fin alter its stability? Why? Does it matter where the fins are placed or if they are in difference places? If so, why?
