I've been a good customer with my bank with service so they are offering me health insurance, I'm only 19 so I'm still on my parents but my boyfriend and I plan on having our first child within the next 2-3 years so I want to build my own life insurance up so the child can go on mine.
Where I live I don't pay to go to the doctors directly (taxes do) and prescriptions are only $3.00 for me. The insurance they are offering is basically for hospital visits and hospital stays and they are offering me to collect $200/day for only $14/month.
My parents told me I might as well stay on theirs (it's pretty much the same) but I really want to gain independence and start doing things on my own and now that there is an offer on the table I'm thinking about taking it.
Is that good or bad? This is only for me right now, nobody else will be on it for a while.
I agree with Jeremy you need to assess which particular insurance is right for you. make it a commitment to compare various providers and look closely at their offers. There are various insurance policies, and one of the popular is the long term care insurance http://funadvice.com/r/bq0q3fl8guv
It really depends on the fine print...is it HMO, PPO, POS, or...? Also, what about max annual deductible, etc? And, what's the co-pay?
Personally, I'd compare at least one or two plans before signing up with a single one, because with health insurance, you do often "get what you pay for".
