Getting a job with felony charge no conviction.

I am 52 years old and recently messed up my life due to drugs. I embezzled a large sum of money from the company I was working for. I am an Accountant,Administrator and a female. Due to my clean record I was given Probation in lieu of conviction. I am not that healthy and cannont due physical labor. First how to I answer this on a job application and second where due I go to find a job? I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I am clean over a year now.

Ahhh where to find a job in this economy … difficult for everybody out there searching. Referrals from others who would vouch for you despite your mistake , that and family members are your best bet. Have you considered working for yourself? MLM’s are one way to build your own business. It would take commitment and hard work to build a down-line organization of people you would get commissions from (the company pays), in the form of override and production bonus. With your background you could keep track of the finances easily enough. You generally have four ares of income- retail, wholesale, override and bonus with the good company’s. You work your own hours in your own style and pretty much decide for yourself how far you want to go within the organization. With all the people you come into contact with; it would open other doors to more opportunities as well. I’m leaning in the direction of Herbalife, Amway or Avon as an example. The first two will help you with the ^health^ issues. Just open the Yellow Pages or google- the company’s. I don’t believe the application will ask you to divulge your unfortunate errors in judgment. It’s just a thought and I hope it gives you a clue worth perusing. Good luck

Probation usually does mean conviction, but that maybe you did not serve time incarcerated. If you have an ODOC number that will give you information , or have a background check done and see what employers see. If you have a felony, you have been convicted. A felony in the sense means you committed a serious crime, a misdemeanor, not so much.

If you haven’t been convicted you do not have to answer “yes” when they say “have you been CONVICTED of a felony in the past 7-10 years”. I wouldn’t go trying to get a job as an accountant though.
