What should I do if I keep having flashbacks about my ex?

/: I try moving on but. how do I set my mind to the fact he used me ? HELP .

Answer #1

All you can do is go through the process. Moving on doesn’t always means dating others; it also means to learn how to live independently, to kind of “date yourself”. I know a lot of people who have learnt more about themselves and coping methods through breakups.

I suggest trying to focus on yourself and presents, not him and the past. If he used you then he really isn’t worth any attention from you. The process of looking after yourself after a breakup is painful but it gets better and after moving on you can focus on guys who are worthwhile.

Ok, my ex played a lot of mind games with my when we broke up and he used the phrase ‘seeing each other’ but turned out that he was actually using me and had no intentions of getting back with me. It has been a very long and painful struggle (5months) but what i have done is distance myself completely from him, find a bunch of new friends and go out to parties and events with them to take my mind off him, and now it has finally worked and i have found possibly, the nicest guy i’ve met in my entire life..just try and keep your feet on the ground for now - best of luck x

I was with a physical and mental abuser for 22 months. I left him a year and a half ago and more often than not, if I am alone, randomly he will enter my thoughts and I will go off thinking about stuff that he has done to me. It is just about as bad to think back to it as it is when it actually happened.

How do I cope? I remind myself that I am safe and a lot better now that I am no longer with him. He is nothing but my past and can no longer hurt me anymore.

There are people around you that love you very much and will make sure that you are not hurt by him again.

Best of luck to you.
