How can he fix his xbox 360?

thats one of the main functions of the xbox to read disks. so either the disk is screwed up or his xbox has finally met its death

Does the power button flash red and if so how many of the lights are flashing? With the xbox on, wrap it in a towel or blanket and leave it like that for an hour or so. Then restart it and see if it works.

A local radio station said to wrap it in a haevy blanket or towel and turn it on. Let it run all wrapped up for like 20 min to a half hour. Afterward, unplug it and let it sit for another 20 minutes. Then turn it on to play. I dunno why or how this works, but a ton of people swear by it. Something about frying out the motherboard. Be warned though, now that you’ve had the rrod once, I’ll keep happening. I’d start saving for a new one. This is only a temporary fix.

I have had the EXaCT same problem, in addition to the rings. What your friend needs is a new DVD drive. The same model is $40 but I don’t recall what it was called. PM me for more information if need be. And just FYI I ended up skipping the hassle of replacing the drive and bought a new one. Gamestop gave me little to nothing for the damn thing. But yes, don’t just go out and buy any drive however.
