Check your local newspaper, craigslist.com, and you can also search online to see if your area has a theater group that you can join. The newspaper and craigslist in my area often has ads for auditions for plays, videos, documentaries, etc. If you have a local coffee house that does open mic nights - talk to the people who work there and see if they know of any groups in your area that does plays.
