Where and why did all my files and folders dissappear?

they did not disappear unless you delete them, maybe they are hidden but still there, you just cant see them… try to type the complete location of the file/folder eg: C:\my documents\ filename… if it’s still there it will be opened… check ur anti virus software coz this may be coz of a virus..

When your HDD got corrupted even those files got corrupt. So what ever you recovered was not a 100% recovery at all. Either way there is always a 50-50 chance of saving and losing the data. There can only be only partial recovery of the lost data. Use the data recovery software again to recover the HDD again. Even if you format the hard drive 4 times partially the data can be recovered but no guarantee to it at all.

I’m not so sure but it most likely a virus so the files and folders are hidden.Maybe you should try this step out: 1.Go to the menu and click on RUN 2.Type “command” 3.Then enter 4.Type the drive you want to unhide the files/folders,for example : C: Then press enter 5.Try to type this: attrib -s -h -r /s /d . 6.Then finally enter it

Check the drive afterwards…
