Ferret being a picky eater and losing A LOT of weight.

My ferret is so extremely picky. She doesn’t want to eat anything. And I bought her some vitamin supplement today to add to her food and she refuses to eat the food with the vitamins on it.

What can I do to help her gain weight?

First off, I am extremely sorry to hear about Cotton & Candy :(

In my case, well..I’m like 99.99% sure it’s nothing serious like that with Fondou (my ferret obviously). She still eats. She’s just extremely picky. She loved the 8 in 1 MOIST food but the last time I came back to petsmart, they were all out of it so I picked up a crunchy diet that cost freakin 20$ and I didn’t want it to go to waste so I’ve been feeding her that. She doesn’t enjoy it as much as the moist ones but she isn’t refusing it either. Only when I put the vitamins on…

I think my problem will be solved soon however. I just went on petco.com and ordered over 50$ worth of stuff for her and most of the items are all moist food but they’re snack packages. The real bag of food I bought is called “Totally Ferret Premium Food for Active, Show and Pet Ferrets” because I’ve read so many good reviews on it. But I highly doubt she’d eat that either since I’m pretty sure it is crunchy, not soft. (it didn’t state what it was so I assumed it’s dry food). Doesn’t hurt to try. I hope she will start gaining some weight soon.

If the Vitamins are powdered, just add a tiny bit at first, and build up over say a week to10 days to the right dose…so she becomes accustomed to it. I don’t know why some animals are suspicious of “new” foods…but some just are…

I had 4 pet rats. the first 2 were named cotton and candy. candy stoped eating about a mounth before she died… she got very skinny and then she started having breathing problems. then she couldent breathe one day and she died in my arms. then cotton got the same thing. but she stopped eating just a week before she died. she had severe breathing problems after that as well. so your ferrette does not die I would take it to the vet emiatly!!!
