What does "femme fatale" mean?

Answer #1

The word “femme” is french for woman. And “fatale” is french for fatal. A “femme fatale” is usually depicted as the woman who screws up somebodies love and life - either by accident or on purpose - with little or no regret. She is depicted as seductive and beautiful, but not morally integer.

Many movies and books have “femme fatale” characters.

Answer #5

I think it happens mostly on purpose. I got tangled up with one years ago and it practically killed me. I couldn’t get away until she was satisfied she had done enough damage. Since I’ve known a few other decent men get destroyed by her. Most of the femme fatale”s are very good at manipulation. So good that you are caught in a web of pure hell before you realize what’s happened. I’d say most are beautiful sociopaths too.

Answer #8

Yep, I think female psychopath pretty much is it in real life. But in some movies or books the “femme fatale” is quite innocent and it just happens to be her destiny that she is the cause of a war because all the powerful men in the story fall in love with her and fight over her. Like Helen of Troy.
