For me, every year at Thanksgiving (Ours in in October) we go to Harvestfest. It is a festival where we say thanks and pay tribute to the Harvest, the farmers who worked hard to grow us the food we eat, the Gods etc. We burn the "Corn King" and say our thanks and good-byes to him for another year.
Its my favourite festival of the year. The Corn King Ritual is very moving and I'm yet to make it through it without crying. : ) It reminds us how lucky we are to have all this food and have more than enough to make it through the winter, unlike our ancestors who struggled.
Crown and cokes starting at noon, however, i cant participate in that one this year :o(. So ill go with the food that we have, true southern style, fried turkey, sweet potato casseroll, pecan pralines....yummm
Pumpkin and chocolate pie!!!!! Although sadly we are not doing the chocolate pie this year ='(
