Fat tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday in the Catholic faith. Fat tuesday is a day when people gorge themselves with food to prepare for all the days of fasting during the Catholic season of lent. Mardi Gras is just a spin-off excuse for a party! haha
It’s not “like” Mardi Gras, it is Mardi Gras - that’s what the words marti gras mean. Marti (from the god mars), like Martes in Spanish, is Tuesday; gras is like gross, or foie gras (ick) - fat.
Well you have to love to party, and get out of the work grind, I think I will take tomorrow off.

It is like Mardi gras actually. The celebration is not the same but they occur on the same day for the same reason, as well as paczki day those 3 are all I am aware of. But it all has to do with being 47 days before Easter which is when Lent begins.

It’s Mardi not marti.
Mardi Gras is French - Mardi meaning Tues and Gras meaning large or fat….hence Fat Tuesday in English.
