who can explain religion to me?

i go when im forced i believe you dont have to go to church to be a christian am i right or wrong what is your opinion?

Answer #1

I believe you are right, as long as you believe that is what counts (for christians) You can worship or praise God from where ever you choose. My dad is a pastor and he would really like me to go but he can’t force me anymore. I’d rather not deal with the politics of church and believe what I want.

Answer #2

Of course you don’t have to go to church to be a Christian….it’s what you believe….belief in Christ….

Answer #3

wrong! Being a christian, means you are going to give it your all…i mean of course we all make mistakes, and do stuff we always regret later, but Jesus died for us so we could be forgiven, and thats how we repay him? No, you are alive because of him! Lets say none of it is real…would you live your life thinking its not real and then it ends up all true, and you go to hell or would rather live for god and read his word, and understand it, and end up going to heaven! Think about it…

Answer #4

Moved from Health (why put it there? /facepalm) to Religion & Spirituality. Remember, you get points if you categorize correctly.

Answer #5

sorry wasnt paying attention

Answer #6

The point of going to church is the same as that of going to school, to learn. You learn facts in school and of the world. You go to church to feed your faith and learn about God. Not going to church doesn’t mean you aren’t a Christian. The word Christian just means you believe in Christ. You can worship God anywhere you don’t need a church, your body is a temple which God made.

Answer #7

i feel whatever you think feels right to do and believe in then it shouldnt matter to anyone no one can change u but yourself…

Answer #8

if God is everywhere, why do you have to go to church to worship? Jesus himself stated to build a personal relationship with God. Do what YOU feel is right. Screw what other people say, it’s your life. If you feel it’s what you need to do, then do it.

Answer #9

yeah thats true in a way but saying your christian and living your life the christian are too different things! Thats like saying going to church, doesnt make you a christian as much as being in a garage makes you a car!

Answer #10

The answer never said anything about living like a Christian… they just asked if they could still be a Christian and not go to church. A building doesn’t define what you believe.

Answer #11
  • the question never said anything
Answer #12

If you are a true christian…than you should know you probably should be going to church!! I mean come on..thats obivious

Answer #13

Dara, I noticed that when I usually ask questions, I don’t really notice the ‘’select a category’’ option, perhaps if E makes it a bit bigger?

Answer #14

It is a good idea to go to church to feed your faith, but it isn’t required. You shouldn’t be forced to go though, you should want to go. Kids that are forced to go usually don’t go when they are older. There has to be a want to actually enjoy church for what it is and what it means. If you are there because you feel obligated you don’t get much out of it. I say it is good to go, but you can still be a Christian and believe anywhere.

Answer #15

I mean like my dads a pastor so i grew up with it…and you know its in me…like i havnt been shown any different…but i really belive if your a christian and you read your bible…you know that its great to go to church…and i mean just God did so much for us and thats how we are going to respond to him?

Answer #16

Aww I didn’t know you were a PK too!! I have a few things to share with you if you like… You are right, it is great to do that for him… its just hard for some especially if you’ve had bad experiences with people in churches like I have. There has been so much hurt from some of the people in my dads church and I choose not to be around that. I wouldn’t mind trying out another church honestly but my dad won’t let me… haha yeah he doesn’t have much say with me being 28 but I don’t want to hurt my dad. They freaked out enough when my sister changed religions. Its not that he won’t let me he wouldn’t approve at all. I don’t know write me a letter… we can talk more.

Answer #17

Ibn Rushd (called Averroes by Europeans) had said RELIGION IS A MATTER OF FAITH. i am not christian i am muslim so no different because they both are related to FAITH people..our relatives and parents kept telling me that i have to pray and have religion commitments i was like OKAY I used to pray when i was with them but other times i didnt till i was convienced by myself… see do not care about what people force you to do :)

Answer #18

I believe religion is: A strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny. An institution to express belief in a divine power. A belief concerning the supernatural, sacred, or divine, and the practices and institutions associated with such belief. The sum total of answers given to explain humankind’s relationship with the universe. With that said…I believe it is something you believe in like a higher being…if you are touch with your spirituality it doesnt really matter if you are a Christian, a Jew, a Muslim a Buddhist or anything in between….If you are content with the way you live & you are a good person who doesnt try intentionally to hurt others and lives life by laws & regulations…that means you are a good & worthy person!

People need to stop judging others & their beliefs & just be a kind loving, supporting, understanding & just accept people as they are…regardless of religion race or color for that matter! Be happy & love thy neighbor….isnt that what g-d has asked of us???? Believe in me, believe that I exist & be kind to all living things?! I dont think that is too much to ask for…regardless of what ever religion you are a part of…

Peace & love to you all! ♥

Answer #19

Keep ur prayers and do the right things. Its all that matters.

Answer #20

Going to church doesn’t make you a christian just like sitting in your garage wont make you a car. Being a christian means having a person relationship with Jesus.

Answer #21

Jesus did not say any of those things. If we all did what “We feel is right”, this world would be total chaos, LOL.

Answer #22

St, Francis had a Vision in which God Told him to “Fix his Church.” St. Francis grabbed his tool bag, and actually started making repairs on the physical church he was Attending. It was later in life when he realized what God had really told him, which was to bring the church back to Healing and serving. St. Francis did that right, spending his entire life serving those in need. Jesus Christ said; “it is not on a hilltop or in a temple in Jerusalem, It is in your own mouth that you should know it and do it.” My Religion is what I do. I cannot go to church for an hour and half and praise God and then spend six days being an a$$hole. How can you best serve? How can you be a vessel for God to “move about his kingdom”? If God were to knock on your door and ask if he could use your physical body to go and help someone , What would that look like? That is what we are here for.

We are not here to watch American Idol, or get piercing's, or text our BFF (what ever that is), although that is all fun stuff, it is not why we are here. The only reason why we are here on this planet is to help others - to love.To be channels of Gods love. I do this right about ten percent of the time, hahaha! But I am aware, and try to improve all the time. There have been those on this planet who got it right 90 percent of the time, and one who got it right 100 percent of the time. To go to church, ya. Fine. Praise God, Fellowship, blah blah. . then find a purpose other than yourself, then do that purpose!! :) hope this helped.
Answer #23

Going to church does not make you a christian, but if your a christian you would want to go to church. That said,

Only being saved and making Jesus Christ your Lord and savoiur does and you can do that anywhere.

Answer #24

In my opinion I don’t think religion is what people should label your own personal relationship with christ. because it isn’t a religion it is a way of living and like I said your own personal relationship with God :)
