Odd. My wife doesn't have any different hair than me (well, my hair that's still got color, not the gray parts) and she's from a group of islands in the Indian Ocean.
Afaik, some groups have "non standard" hair texture....the reason that 80% of the hair products purchased in the US are from African American women.
(Watch the Chris Rock documentary on hair...it's unreal).
