Is escargo french for snails?
It is a French word but it also is defined as an edible snail. (dictionary.com)
es·car·got (ěs'kär-gō') n. pl. es·car·gots (-gō') An edible snail, especially one prepared as an appetizer or entrée.
For most people, when you say Escargot, they know that you are talking about snails.
Escargo is a french dish that is cooked snails, but it does not translate into the word snail though.
